FOOD SCHOOL GROUP THERAPY PROGRAMME

Our recent post Food School questionnaire, completed by parents attending the programme with their children, highlighted the following: they all found the course beneficial, they felt the course was good value for money and would recommend it to their friends. The children enjoyed the course and tasted new food. All parents felt that their own and their child’s stress levels were reduced at mealtimes. The parents also felt more able to introduce new foods into their child’s diet after completing the course.

Our Food School Programme enables opportunities for the children to watch and learn from each other and share in the food fun together. We find children often encourage each other to progress along the steps to eating whilst working in a group. Parents also find that meeting other parents who are experiencing similar difficulties around mealtimes can be very beneficial, as it enables opportunities to share experiences and support one another.

The group session fees include therapy input from the Occupational Therapist, Speech and Language Therapist and two Therapy Assistants as well as advice from the Dietician. A registered first aid trainer also teaches parents how to deal with choking.

We are flexible where we run the courses so we can fit in with parent’s needs. Our main criteria being the venue is compatible with our 5-star food hygiene rating. We will consider running a course at your child’s school, if we think this would be appropriate following discussion with yourself and the school.
